i am not saying all locals are like this..being a local myself although originally iranian..i see many good locals so its not necessarly about naitonality its about personality and manners and Good or bad udnerstanding of islamic principles..
i was in one of the hospital's sections..the elevator opens.. an indian or something worker with a medium cartoon box wants to get it and its kinda crowded..but he eventually gets in..although maybe perhaps he should have waited but still he managed to get in..one local guy says soemthing like.."what is this..put the box over ur head..i" loool i know it might sond funny but i got soo angry i mean come on...!!!! isn't that just soooooo frustrating :@@@@@@@@@...!!!!!!
if ur local..or lebanese or whatever it doesnt mean ur better than others..some foreign workers work more than us with bad conditions and minimum wages so show some respect pleaase..!!!! :@@@
Would u be proud of ur self knowing Allah is watching ur actions..? would u do the exactly same attitude if u our prophet Mohammed -peace be upon him- was with u in the elvator..!!
think about it..we would change many many of our actions and attitudes if our phopher -peace be uponhim-was present..although we know Allah watches us all the times but perhaps sometimes we r ignorant or forget or to try to forget...this is a reminder for me..as well as for u..
So..here is my Question..What do u think of those two situations..?do u think its out of ignorance or arrogance or what exactly? and What Would YOU do in those situations...would u just watch and keep quite..or defend the indian guy and worker or show ur anger or disapproval..?
for my self..i just kept quite cuz i don't find the levator a good place to advice people lool plus there r other people and some important conditions of good advising in my view is to:
1. Watch for the right TiminG
2,. The PlacE and PrivacY
3. The WaY of SendinG ur MessagE and AdvicinG

It is annoying to see how some ppl act all high and mighty around other folks, and you're right in that it goes well beyond nationality.
Here's what I think: I know some hospitals have a policy about mobiles and if that were the case, the local guy COULD have pointed out that in a more respectful manner. He wouldn't lose a thing if he'd said something like 'Excuse me, but you really shouldn't use ur mobile here, It isn't allowed' or something to that extent. Same with the box guy. I HATE it when ppl get in elevators and its already stuffed, i seriously feel like I can't breathe. But c'mon, put it on your head? too weird man. The guy was wrong in entering the elevator - cudnt he have thought about the other ppl already there y3ni, and even if he did that other guy shouldnt have suggested that, rudely or not.
Hm..I find it hard to 'advice' ppl I dont know. You never know how they'd take them and I've seen bigger problems arising from mere advice. I would espicially not advice men..if he wants to act like that, well, its only gonna show me wat kind of person he really is.
This kinda reminded me of something. I was waiting my turn at new york fries one time after ramadan (or before) and a group of young girls, around 4 or 5 were talking to the guy there really rudely. They were palestenians I think and one of them was literally screaming at him. In the end he was like 'dont talk to me like that' and it just made it worse. I felt bad for him..but you know what, one of the girls hadnt participated in the fight with her friends and when they left, she stayed a second later and told him 'Im sorry about how they acted'. kebrat fe 3eini.
Wow. Long comment. Ma 7asait. Sorry!
i couldn't agree with you more.
i hate arrogant people no matter where they are from.
but one should be careful...you never know what might to you the very next second.
i wish this local guy (if he was delibiritely acting proud) had slipped in front of the indian after leaving the elevator.
that would have been sooo much fun.
nothing is impossible.
humility and modesty is a part of faith. lets hope we all inculcate such characteristics in our personalities.
may ALLAH guide us.
as for what i would have done?
well...to be honest, i'd be too shy to say anything. but maybe try to sum up enough courage to give the bad guy an angry look. and a kind glance at our victim.
may allah the MOST HIGH, guide us all, and help us improve all aspects of our personalities. and make our personalities reflect the characteristics of our prophet muhammad (pbuh) and his righteous companions...ameen.
after thought:
okay maybe the slipping bit sounds a little harsh. astaghfurullah. nobody's perfect. including me. now that i think of it, maybe i've acted too proudly myself at times.
:(
Hi
many many people act so!
some on purpose and some 'cause they forget!
some people think that they r better, and they stay better for ever!!!!!!!!!!!!
Nice reminder and thanks for the Hadith
hey BoOkY:
Really? i did not know about the law..good to know..so ur right..he could have said it in a respectfull manner
oh..well about the box guy i admit sometimes the elevator is StuffEd with people i feel its sooo wrooooong!! i mean come on..have some respect..they don't put into consideration that there r women inside so please some space..!!!!!
looool yeah the way he said it was wrong..also..again..i don't know what wrong with some people nowadays..maybe including me soemtimes..is it too difficult to be nice and polite when advising otherS?
and me too..i find it ahrd to advise people depending on how close we are and their personalitties...but soemtimes i advise with lil embarssment lool cuz i say i might never have another chane..or why not change hat person if i can after Allah's wish..u know?
but sometimes i leave it maybe cuz i am not courageous enough or wrong timing or or or..
i liked the story..SweeT girl : )

اللهم لا تجعل في قلوبنا ذرة كبر وارزقنا التواضع والحكمة والعلم النافع ورضاك والفردوس الأعلى من الجنة اللهم آمييين
any ways..الله يهديه ويهدينا آميييين
some people may be very very good but perhaps bad in in delivering their message in the right way..or they get angry quickly..i think we should give people second chances
