~*~ FrustraTinG CaricatureSs !! ~*~

A Caricature from Gulf Newspaper nov 22,2008 by:Dwynn Ronald V Trazo

i am not a very political person..but i like to know the news from time to time , mostly from dad, so that i don't feel i am ignorant !!

it's frustrating how little we care sometimes about all what is hapPening to the Islamic countries..how little some of us pray..how little we think seriously about them..i am talking about some people..NOT ALL..

its fustrating how much rich countries are spending on fancy buildings..hotels..landmarks.. ..that r mostly suitable for foreingners ..!!and..milliOons of dolalrs spend on FIREWORKs.. for what..?!! few seconds of pleasure?!! ignoring the fact that millions of poor people r dying from hunger in africa and other palces!!

it's frustrating the laws we have in the UAE are not strong enough to preserve the principles of islam and the UAE's Traditions..in terms of how foreings wear..and how they behave in Public places..

if anyone knows any new laws about this..please let me know..i know in Sharjah..there are some laws in terms of what people can wear..or approperiate behaviors..but in other cities ..not sure..

I do admit that the UAE has given us Many Opportunities to do Great things as locals..to be safe..to feel secure..happy..educated elhamdu Allah..but i think law makers should pay more attention to those small things that will slowly destroy our identity..

don't u think we are slowly becoming Submitted and OKAY with the everyday Scenes of inapproperiate clothes!!.. aren't our children being exposed to it and getting used to it..? i think the fact that we r getting used to it is dangerous..cuz it is then that we lose any sense of responsibility and craving for changing the situation..

isn't it sad that many places..entertainment places are build for open-minded people!!..swimming pools..skating places..not all, but i mean most..i mean we girls can't go and enjoy it alone without men being around!!

i heard, not sure, that in Singapore, owning a T.V Dish is not legal..perhaps because they do not want their children and people being expoSed to Exotic IdeAS?

well ..i am not agreeing 100% with this or diagreeing but..don;t u think the thign s our children watchc on T.v is sCary?..yes..parents and fmaily members should watch the kids and allow or not allow certain things..but..u can't watch them 100% of the time..! and when i see my nephew HamOooDy..watching some of the MBC 3 cartoons..i get frustrated..a cartoon about 3 girls wearing tight and putting make uP..is that what we want our kids to watch?.. a cartoon that is about anger..fight..or even inapproperiate clothes..!!No CoMmenT..!!!

Hi Spring
I have thought about this kinda things and compare many families and different countries. some completely different countries.
I have compared situations in Islamic countries and non-islamic ones. I agree with most of you said. But these problems r too difficult to be solved. I may share you my thoughts later ^__^
do u want me to share?

spring blend!

i couldn't agree with you more.
i have sooo much to say about this topic!!!

i always make dua for all muslims wherever they are. if you ask allah for something for others, angels make the same dua for you. so when i make dua for everyone, i'm actually being selfish...lol!!

muslims are supposed to be like one body. a pain in one part should affect the health and well being of the entire body.

but you're right. as musch as poverty and war is a test for people, so is wealth, health and time. how we spend and utilize this can either be good for us (for this world and hereafter) or it can lead to our destruction! may ALLAH guide us.

millions of dollars on firworks? now i don't think i'm going to enjoy them anymore :S

and you're right about hotels and stuff....i mean they are all catered to the non muslims..they all serve alcohol...they all have bars/night clubs, etc. it's sad to see some people adopting such habits and trying to adopt other's culture! they are trying to be something they are not! even as adults, are we supposed to watch such things..and waste our time? and they only fill our heads with weird ideas...that again leads to sooooo many problems!!

either that, or young men are wasting too much on cars and stuff, and the women are wasting time and money on fashion!!

what we're watching on tv also sucks! not just what the kids are watching...us too!!!...i mean shows like SATC, desperate housewives etc which are oh soooo popular are full of crap!..that's the word for it...crap! i've watched it a couple of times to see what it's all about...even thoguh i was watching it alone, i felt embarrassed!!!!! and sadly muslim women love this show and try to make their lives the same.

and the cartoons the kids watch!!!?!?!..they are only full of sexual content and violence. kids are becoming aware of such things at an even earlier age. a lot of parents i know don't let their kids watch just anything. they record what they find as ok, and then show that to their kids. most of the cartoons i think are meant for adults.

but sadly now with both parents busy with careers, kids have a free hand with what they watch, and what they do on the interenet. thankgod for etisalat proxy thing atleast!

sharjah decency law has been forgotten i think!

hmm...that's enough for now!

Hey Spring,

Walla you touched a very sensitive cord I must say! If i were to talk and complain about the wrong things that happen in this place I will never be able to stop.

Islam is practiced wrongly, education is the worst, issues are all prioritized wrongly and you know what????? forget about doing anything or applying anywhere without WASTA !!!

Shoo nsawwy? El 7emdilla 3ala kil 7al.

hey ocean

i know its difficult to solve those problems..cuz its not a one person's problem..it affects the nation..our identity..principles..it afffects millions of people..ur right..

but i shared the big picture..and i forgot to mention that we as indivuals like sadia said in some examples..can make small chanages for a better future and generation..like being wise in what to watch..watching our kids..holding on to our principles..dreSsing right..not spending too little or too much..balance..not being consumed financially, emotionally and intelectually by the western world and culture..so on..

yes..sure..please share..i always welcome other opinions

ThanKs for ur comment and have a nice day : )

hey Sadia..i will comment on ur looooooong Beautiful comment soon lool..i lovED iT cuz u put many of my thoughts into words..and u mentioned little things that we as indiviuals can change rather than standing hopeless and looking at the big bad picture cuz as Ocean mentioned it's then difficult to solve..

thankS for sharing dear..will comment later on ur comment ; )

Hey ReeM B..

ur right..specially about "Islam is practiced wrongly, issues are all prioritized wrongly"

and the worse is when we think we are doing all the things right..or when we DON'T SEE the negative impact of other's or our practices..cuz it is then that we STOP or NEGLECT reading more..wanting to be better..improving our selves and mistakes..

but from some people around me..i do beleive things can be better but more influence should be put..more awarness..more effort and time in the field of educating ouRselves and others..in the field of opening people's eyes and heart to what negative impact such practices ahave on our future..AND WHAT WE CAN DO TO IMPROVE OUR SELVES IN TERMS OF RELIGION, MANNERS, AND INTELECTUALLY

Hey..thanKs for ur comment and its always a pleasrue to meet new and intelectual bloggers ^_____^

Sadia ya Sadia ^_^

about the du2aa part..i think like that too :D

about the movies..ur totally right..when we, as grown Ups, are watching not very good movies!! or doing things that we know is wrong but we r somehow addicted to..how can be blame the children or young ones or expect them to be better?

i liked the idea or recording cartoons..but nowadays its not always easy but one should try..

and i think we r suffering from an emotional and intelectual emptyiness an that is why men are spending money on madaher (looks) and cars and women oVER-shopping and cocnentrating on looks too..not all ofcourse and in some cases women r being exposed to western and Consumerism concepts..wihout thiking of the consequences ..any ways..yekafee falsafa :D

Liked ur comment ..ThanK sis : )

This is a fantastic post.

Of course it's unfair to judge, but I think for many Muslims visiting the UAE, we are generally disappointed at the apathy of the natives in protecting their heritage, but I'm so pleased to be proved wrong!

Hey Khadija..

Thanks..glad u liked the post :)

well..i do admit that i am not always a good example or defernder for islam or our traditions.. so..this was a reminder for me and all of us to be better muslims..to protect our identity and principles even through simple steps like reading arabic books..reading about Islam..not following the bad habits of the western world..being AWARE of the negative and destuctive messages that media tries to send to us and our children..my main concern was our islamic principles but as u said some aspects of heritage should also be considered to protect..

i do beleive many muslims and locals feel like me..and even more..

ThankS for visiTing..Hope to See you again : )
